Dedication
We give this space to all who walk through its doors.
May it be a space where people can find their inner wisdom and personal inspiration.
May it be a place where people can find ease from their challenges.
May the practices taught here help provide perspective and shed light on solutions for harmony and growth in people's lives.
May it be a place where we can meet others, and share of ourselves.
May it be a place where people come to celebrate!
May it be a place where people come to let tears out.
May it be a place where people feel safe to be themselves.
May it be a FUN space where spirits are lifted!
May it be a successful place in all of these endeavors.
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti, peace peace peace. Jai Jai!!!

What is Jai Yoga Arts?...
Jai
Yoga Arts, located in "Morgan Town," Bushwick, Brooklyn, is a center for yoga, spiritual, and artistic practices of all kinds. It was opened by a yoga teacher with ten years of experience, Ella Luckett, in March 2011. She is joined by an awesome group of instructors whose dedication and passion provide exhilarating and enlightening classes
for all levels! The aim of Jai is to be a community space
where people can share their spirit, creative passions, and healthy
living practices. Come see how relaxed and easy this place is. All are welcome, and, no, you don’t have to be
flexible to do yoga!
The Story of Jai
Seeds
The seed for Jai was planted over 20 years ago when, as a student dancer, I would to sneak into the studio late at night and dance, choreograph, and enjoy the SPACE. Ever since then, I craved an open space for creativity where I could experience this kind of freedom of movement. Nobody judging; just movement and self-expression!
As I got more serious about my dance studies, I found layers of perfectionism, competition, and body image that didn't sit well with me. Dance had lost it's creativity and freedom by succumbing to the weight of ego and its constant striving to "be better" instead of just "being and enjoying." With a heavy heart, I chose to let go of the pursuit of a dance career. Giving it up was like the loss of a great love. It was confusing because I loved dance, yet hated the cage it was starting to put my spirit in.
Then, in my late twenties, I stumbled upon yoga and rediscovered freedom of movement. In my very first class, my teacher told us to not judge or compare ourselves. And that was the ticket I needed to get back into my body. I felt free again, and movement never felt so good! So I started living, breathing, and eventually teaching it. Along the way, I've had many great teachers, including Jason Crandell, Sharon Gannon and David Life, Shiva Rae, and many others...
After 10 years of running around San Francisco and New York teaching at a million different venues, I finally decided it was time to sit in one place and provide a space for people to come and play. I spent the the better part of 2009 planning the studio. But I still wasn’t ready to take the leap. There was one more component that I knew would be the key to success and prosperity… It was people.
Spirit
I put the plan on hold for 2010 and asked the
universe to send me the right person or people to share in this experience of
opening a yoga studio. And after a year, the universe brought a bright, shining pixie into the picture: Emily
Snyder.
I call her Ganesha because she literally removes the obstacles (most of the obstacles being my own fear!!!) When I am backed into a dark corner, Emily shows me the doorway to a wide-open and well-lit space. I am eternally grateful for her presence as my friend and business teammate.

Manifestation
…As this vision started to take shape, more people jumped on board:
Katie, Saied, and all the Jai teachers to name a few. Painting, making decisions, and talking me out of a tree when things got crazy. In no way did I open this space alone.
I am so grateful for this experience, and everyone in it with me. We now have an awesome place to practice, play, hang out, gather, learn, grow, dance, and make new connections. It's everything I dreamed of and more, so come check us out. One person at a time, we're building a community, and you are invited!!!
